Type III. 1890-1893. Ali I bin Said. In silver gilt with five enameled arms each with dual ball finials, dark red enamels with white boarder, green enameled laurels, obverse and reverse centre in gilt bronze, with silver gilt laurel suspension wreath, with makers mark "aBc" on ring for Arthus Bertrand & Co., measuring 57.5 mm (w) x 92 mm (h - inclusive of wreath and integral horizontally pierced ball suspension), with elongated Commander suspension loop and modern ribbon, cross enameling exhibiting signs of heat damage causing a dual appearance, centre enamel remains clear, fine overall.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
