Sweden, Kingdom. A Red Cross Merit Medal For Voluntary Health Care for Men, I Class Gold Grade
(Röda Korsets förtjänstmedalj för Frivillig sjukvård). Instituted in 1921. Carl XVI Gustaf (1973-present). Large Version. Standard size is a "5", this one is the only one ever recorded in a size "8", making it very unique. In silver gilt, engraver's initials "LH" on the obverse, maker marked "SPORR", city maker with a scripted "K", national marked with the three crowns, silver standard marked with an "S" within a hexagon, marked "925" (silver) and date coded "C10" (1977) on the edge, engraved in running script "Olaf Stroh 1978" on the reverse, measuring 31.2 mm (w) x 47.5 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and wreath suspension, bruised, light contact, original ribbon with safety pin attachment, better than very fine.
