What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Tunisia, French Protectorate. An Order of Glory, V Class, by Arthus-Bertrand, c.1950

(Nishan al-Iftikhar). Instituted in 1843. Type IX with Cypher of Muhammad VIII al-Amin (1943-1957). A typically faceted ten-pointed star constructed of silver, the quadrants exhibiting ornamented beaded patterns, with obverse centre featuring an enameled green medallion with superposed royal cypher, within a beaded edge, plain reverse, the star is surmounted by a beaded bow suspension of silver, measuring 52.22 mm (w) x 80.55 mm (h - inclusive of its bow and laterally-pierced ball suspension), with period maker’s mark of Arthus Bertrand, Paris, toned silver, suspended by its original breast ribbon, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Glory was a Tunisian honorary order founded in 1835 by Al-Mustafa ibn Mahmud the Bey of Tunisia. The order was awarded until the constitutional role of the Bey was abolished in 1957.
