Turkey, Ottoman Empire. A 1915 Star, Large Version, by J.H. Werner

A high-quality, German-manufactured 1915 Star, constructed of silver with enamels, consisting of a five-pointed star with each arm completing in a ball finial, the obverse featuring richly-detailed red enameled arms with a central five-pointed star incorporated into the mottle, bearing a central silver monogram of Sultan Mehmed V, above a date of “1333”, set within a striking silver crescent, the reverse with six visible rivets securing the obverse features in place, each held in place with original nuts, with a raised barrel hinge and flattened horizontal pinback meeting a flattened catch, maker marked “J.H. WERNER, BERLIN”, flanked by the firm’s logo, measuring 66.10 mm (w) x 63.46 mm (h), weighing 40.1 grams, the silver demonstrating an age-appropriate patina and with minor flecking visible to the enamels, in extremely fine condition.
