Instituted January 4 1862. In silver, a seven point green enamelled star with ball finials, three small faceted rays in each quadrant, the large center medallion features a gilt crescent moon on a red enamelled field with inscription ABDULAZIZ HAN EL MUSTENID BITTEVFIKAT EL RABBANIYE MELIK UL DEVLETUL OSAMIYE, surrounded by a thick green enamelled ring, the reverse medallion has been rotated and sits upside down bearing two drums with flags and the inscription SENE 699, surmounted by a silver gilt crescent moon and star suspension, worn on original ribbon, measures 63.8mm (w) x 81.8mm (h – inclusive of star and moon suspension), weighs 48.9 grams (including ribbon), very minor enamel chip in 12 o’clock obverse arm, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This Order was awarded to foreign and national personnel, within both civil and military realms, for extraordinary services for the Sultan. The Order was awarded until 1922, when the Ottoman Empire ceased to exist.
