What's a max bid?

Turkey, Ottoman Empire. An Order of Osmanieh, I Class Grand Cross, c.1880

(Nishan-i-Osmania). Instituted in 1861. Type II with Green Enamels. Sash Badge: multi-piece construction, in silver with red and green enamels, unmarked, inscribed in Arabic "Relying on the Assistance of Almighty God, Abdulaziz Khan, Sovereign of the Ottoman Empire" in Gold on the obverse centrepiece, reverse centrepiece with a trophy-of-arms with the year in Eastern Arabic numerals "٦٩٩" = AH 699 (1299/1300 AD, the year of the creation of the Ottoman Empire), measuring 64 mm (w) x 81 mm (h) inclusive of its star and crescent moon suspension, accompanied by a replacement modern sash that incorporates a decorative moiré pattern and features a large bow-tie; and Breast Star: insignia in silver with red and green enamels, hallmarked with the Ottoman Empire silver standard mark on the tip of the star point at 12 o'clock on the obverse and on the reverse cartouche, inscribed in Arabic "Relying on the Assistance of Almighty God, Abdulaziz Khan, Sovereign of the Ottoman Empire" in Gold on the obverse centrepiece, mounted to an eight-pointed star base, each star point with seven faceted rays, measuring 91.2 mm (w) x 91.7 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays. Intact enamels, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Osmanieh was instituted on December 9, 1861 by Sultan 'Abdu'l-Aziz Khan I and awarded to Ottoman civil servants and military leaders for outstanding services to the state. It was originally awarded in three grades, which was extended to five grades in 1867.
