Two First War 253rd Infantry Battalion Insignia - Collar Tab: pickled brass, maker marked "KINNEAR & DESTERRE" on the reverse, 26 mm x 34.5 mm, intact lugs; and Shoulder Title: bronze, unmarked, 27.3 mm x 38.5 mm, intact lugs, one of two pins intact. Light contact, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Eastern Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Kingston under the authority of G.O. 48, May 1, 1917. The Battalion sailed April 29, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel P.G.C. Campbell with a strength of 17 officers 461 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 5th Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
