What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

United Kingdom. A Royal Navy White Ensign

Fabricated from white cotton-nylon blend, the Union Flag in the canton is screen-printed in red and blue inks and framed by the St George's Cross in red, all on a white field, with reinforced stitching along the right edge. There is a 225 mm long stabilizing bar sewn in place at the top of the thick 70 mm wide hoist sleeve, with a protruding brass clip sewn in place beside the bar. The clip has two holes, the top one is oval and slotted which allows for attachment to the flagpole, the bottom hole round with the thick rope tied in place, then fed through the hoist sleeve. The rope continues through the hoist sleeve, appearing at the bottom and extending outward approximately 370 mm in length from the bottom edge of the ensign, terminating with a brass swivel clip. The rope is secured in place through the round hole on the clip, the other hole hook-shaped and slotted which allows for attachment to the flagpole. The hoist sleeve incorporates two large brass eyelets and is printed in black ink on the reverse with the British Broad Arrow production mark, along with the inscription "WHITE ENS 4 5713298" (White Ensign). It measures 1,750 mm (w) x 840 mm (h), exhibiting scattered brown spotting on the white field at the lower right, along with a few black marks beside the hoist sleeve on the reverse. Near extremely fine.
