The Knights of St. John in the British Empire: Being the Official History of the British Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem by Sir Edwin J. King, published in London in 1934 by St. John’s Gate, 1934, hardcover presenting the St. John emblem in gilt on the front cover as well as the title and author in gilt along the spine, containing 248 pages, the inside presents a dedication in black ink stating Miss Evelyn Adela Marshall. An appreciation of thirty-three years of happy association with and devoted service to, the Keswick Nursing Division. St. John Ambulance Brigade. October 1945, along with the dates in pencil 1911-1944, measuring 14.2 cm (w) x 22.5 cm (h), mild staining to the cover, in otherwise very fine condition.
Footnote: Evelyn Adela Marshall (1874-1954) was the daughter of Reginald Dykes Marshall (1832-1913) and Mary Jane Stewart (1844-1925).
