Bronze Star Medal Award Document (inscribed "The United States of America / To all who shall see these presents, Greeting: / This is to Certify that the President of the United States of America authorized by Executive Order, February 4, 1944 has awarded The Bronze Star Medal / to James E. Hood, 6 258 615, Sergeant / (then Private, Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion, 11th Infantry) / for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against the Enemy / European Theater of Operations, during the Rhineland Campaign / Given under my hand in the City of Washington this 30th day of April 1952", signed in blue ink by Adjutant Major General William E. Bergin, United States Army, The Adjutant General and signed in black ink by Secretary of the Army Frank Pace Jr., printed in color inks, on an off-white paper stock, both the illustration of the award and the War Office seal embossed, measuring 307 mm (w) x 254 mm (h)).

2. Purple Heart Award Document (inscribed "The United States of America / To all who shall see these presents, Greeting: / This is to Certify that the President of the United States of America authorized by Order of General George Washington, August 7, 1782 has awarded The Purple Heart / to James E. Hood, 6 258 615, Private / Company G, 11th Infantry Regiment / for Wounds Received in Action / France, 9 September 1944 / Given under my hand in the City of Washington this 30th day of April 1952", signed in blue ink by Adjutant Major General William E. Bergin, United States Army, The Adjutant General and signed in black ink by Secretary of the Army Frank Pace Jr., printed in color inks, on an off-white paper stock, both the illustration of the award and the War Office seal embossed, measuring 307 mm (w) x 254 mm (h)).

Both documents exhibit slight undulation and light soiling. Better than very fine.
