United States. A First War Pair of Trench Art Brass Shell Cases, c.1918
A pair of commemorative trench art brass shell cases. Both shells with a design incorporating the name "VERDUN" in large capital letters beside a branch bearing six leaves, on a dimpled background, one is marked "75 DE C. / PD Ps 2040I 18 M" on the bottom, the other is marked "75 DE C / PD Ps 532L 16 R" on the bottom. Both shells measure 85 mm in diameter at the base x 350 mm in height, and weigh approximately 2.5 kilograms for the pair. Near extremely fine.
