A pair of commemorative trench art brass shell cases. First shell with a design incorporating a six icons (a plane with the United States Army Air Corps insignia above; the United States Marine Corps insignia; the United States Coast Guard insignia; the United States Navy insignia; the United States coat-of-arms; and a Blank Scroll), with a dimpled background, the top with a wavy and undulated pattern, marked on the bottom "40mm MK2 / 8 - 1944 (date) R V, an anchor, LOT 914" along with a manufacturer's mark, measuring 60 mm in diameter at the base x 260 mm in height. Second shell with a design incorporating a series of large drill holes forming the large capital letters "USMC" (United States Marine Corps), with a series of small drill holes creating the Marine Corps insignia on the other side, marked on the bottom "105MM M14 / RMO-204-2 5-53" on the outer ring, and "KOP-29-400 / M 2882 6-1953" on the inner ring, measuring 118 mm in diameter at the base x 210 mm in height. The shells weigh approximately 2.3 kilograms for the pair. Near extremely fine.
