In Gold with blue enamels, weighing 18.6 grams inclusive of its ribbon and hanger, engraved in running script "Carlton Montague Moody." opposite "June 12. 1900." on the reverse of the badge, maker marked "BAILEY, BANKS & BIDDLE PHILA." and number engraved "2812." on the reverse of the eagle suspension, measuring 29.8 mm (w) x 44.7 mm (h), intact enamels, original ribbon with pinback hanger, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Sons of the Revolution was founded in 1876 by members of the Society of the Cincinnati, wishing to broaden participation in preserving the American Heritage on the eve of the United States centennial. Its mission is to promote knowledge and appreciation ofthe achievement of American independence and to foster fellowship among its members. As a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization devoted to the principles and ideals of its founders, the modern Society maintains its headquarters, in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia with twenty-eight societies in the United States and Europe. Carlton Montague Moody was born on May 28, 1856, the son of William Ferry Moody and Elizabeth Moody (born Kline) and as a member of the Sons of the Revolution. He married Elizabeth Eddy Lewis (born September 4, 1856) on March 8, 1879 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the couple later having three children together. He died on February 18, 1916, at the age of 59 and is buried in West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Plot: Bryn Mawr 520. His wife, Elizabeth Eddy Moody, died on June 8, 1941, at the age of 84 and is buried with him.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
