This is a rare and very well-preserved M65 field artillery periscope, constructed of an olive-drab painted magnetic metal casing. It consists of two periscope-style lenses affixed to dual tubes, in turn connecting to glass eyepieces. The optics remain fully functional and are adjustable in four variations, which includes a range-finding grid. The lenses also retain a functional zoom feature adjustable to a factor of four. The base retains all necessary elements for attachment to a mount. Numerous marking are evident, including a serial number of “5650”, a stock number of “7579932”, as well as a hand-etched date of “1919”. Some loss of paint is evident to the exterior, but the periscope is in an otherwise better than very fine condition.
