Vatican. A Jubilee Medal of 1950 issued during the Papacy of Pope Pius XII
In bronze, obverse illustrating the left-facing bust of Pope Pius XII, laurel leaves below the bust, engraver marked "MISTRVZZI", surrounded by the inscription in Latin "PIVS XII PONTIFEX MAXIMVS", reverse illustrating the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, surrounded by the inscription in Latin "JVBILAEI AN MCML BENEMERENTI", measuring 36.3 mm in diameter, original ribbon, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, Vatican coat-of-arms on the lid, inscribed "Comitato Centrale ANNO SANTO 1950" on the inside lid, recessed medal bed, weakened hinged area and scuffed on the exterior, case fair.
