WWI 70th Infantry Battalion Cap Badge and Collar Insignia - Cap Badge (pickled copper, unmarked, 37.6 mm x 45 mm, intact lugs); and "70" Collar Insignia (bronze, unmarked, 13.8 mm x 18.3 mm, intact lugs). Extremely fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Southwestern Ontario with mobilization headquarters at London, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 103A, August 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed April 24, 1916 with strength of 35 officers and 936 other ranks under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel R.I. Towers. The Battalion was absorbed into the 39th Infantry Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
