WWI 98th Infantry Battalion Collar Pair CEF - Officer's in browning copper with gilt overlay, unmarked, 31.8 mm x 33.7 mm, horizontal pinback, horizontal pinabck, gilt remains on the reverse only; Enlisted Man's in browning copper, unmarked, 32 mm x 33.5 mm, one original lugs, the other is solder repaired. Better than very fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised in the Lincoln and Welland Counties of Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Welland under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. The Battalion sailed July 16, 1916 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel H.A. Rose with a strength of 36 officers and 1,050 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 12th Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
